Crystal Palace Faces Management Woes
Roy Hodgson, the manager of Crystal Palace, is in hospital but stable after he had to leave a training session early on Thursday, 15 February, due to health reasons.
The English Premier League (EPL) club addressed the matter via a statement on their website the same day: “Following news that Roy Hodgson was taken ill during today’s training session, we can confirm that he is now stable and is currently undergoing tests in [the] hospital.
“Everybody at the club sends their best wishes to Roy for a speedy recovery,” the club added.
At 76-year-old, Hodgson is the EPL’s oldest manager in history, although health concerns have similarly interrupted his duties in September last year.
Palace has had a less-than-impressive season, with their 3-1 loss to Chelsea last Monday, 12 February, seemingly being the straw that broke the camel’s back. The club currently sits at an embarrassing 15th place on the EPL table, just five points above the relegation zone.
Rumours have been circulating that the Eagles intend to sack Hodgson, with former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner being the current favourite to replace him.
Despite the upheaval, the team will need to keep their wits about them as they will be taking on Everton at Goodison Park Stadium in Liverpool, England on Monday, 19 February.
